TINA GLANDER PETERSON

Tina Glander Peterson has over twenty five years of professional choral directing and teaching experience as a public-school music educator in Wisconsin and California. Currently, she is Director of Choirs at Irvine High School where she conducts five choirs and teaches advanced placement music theory. Under her direction, Irvine High School choirs have consistently earned superior ratings in state and regional choral festivals. Tina also holds the position of Minister of Music at Church of the Foothills in Tustin, CA. For three years, she was the Director of Choirs at Oak Middle School in Los Alamitos, CA., and taught middle school choral music for ten years in the public schools of Wisconsin. While in Wisconsin, she was conductor of the Milwaukee Children’s Choir upper-level treble ensemble, the Cantorei Choir. She is an active adjudicator and guest clinician for choral music festivals and performance events around the state, and is a member of The Southern California Vocal Association (SCVA) and the California Choral Directors Association (CCDA), currently serving as the Southern Section Representation. In 2019, Tina was awarded Irvine High School’s Teacher of the Year at Irvine High School and she was the recipient of the Irene Schoepfle Lifetime Achievement Award for distinguished contributions to music education. Mrs. Peterson earned her Bachelor of Music Education degree from University of Wisconsin-Whitewater and her Master of Music in Music Education and Choral Conducting from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.


 
 



JILL BRENNER

Jill Brenner, accompanist for Irvine High School’s choral music ensembles since 1988, is a graduate of the University of Missouri at Kansas City with a degree in piano performance. Both of Jill’s daughters are graduates of Irvine High School. In addition to her duties at Irvine High School, Jill is the pianist at the Irvine United Congregational Church. She has been honored as Classified Employee of the Year for the Irvine Unified School District.; Mrs. Brenner is in demand as accompanist for soloists, small groups, weddings, and other choral groups in Orange County.

MONICA COLUNGA

Monica Colunga began her tenure as Principal of Irvine High School in the fall of 2007. Prior to coming to Irvine High School as an Assistant Principal in the 2006-2007 school year, Dr. Colunga was at University High School for twenty years as an Athletic Director, Activities Director, Certified Athletic Trainer, classroom teacher, coach and an Assistant Principal. Dr. Colunga has worked as an adjunct faculty member at Chapman University from 1997-2002. During her spare time Dr. Colunga has been working as a volunteer assistant softball coach for Chapman University since 1995.

Dr. Colunga earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Chapman University in Movement and Exercise Science with an emphasis in Athletic Training and a Teaching Credential in Physical Education in 1983. Dr. Colunga earned a supplemental teaching credential in Spanish in 1987. She earned a Master of Arts in Education from Azusa Pacific University in 1995. Dr. Colunga earned both her Tier I and Tier II Administrative Credential form UCI and a Doctor of Education degree in Educational Leadership through the UCI/UCLA doctoral program in 2011.

Currently, Dr. Colunga is the President for CIFSS and the President-Elect for the Federated Council with the State CIF. Dr. Colunga serves on the Advisory Committee for the UCI Extension's Administrative Services Credential Program; she is a member of the ACSA Region 17 Women's Leadership Committee, and a member of the Concordia Hispanic & Minority Leadership Advisory Board.
